devika (pronounced "dey-vih-kah" :) is a dancer, performing artist, and holistic Pilates facilitator originally from NYC. Diving into dancing professionally led to a painful and repeated injury, and dancing through the pain became unsustainable. Through the discovery of the dynamic possibilities of Pilates, devika became able to better understand her movement patterns and offer sustainable care for her dancing body. devika is certified through the Kane School of Core Integration, a program that integrates Classical Pilates Method with sound biomechanical principles and focus on injury prevention. They have worked with students of all levels and has experience with osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, chronic neck and back pain, students undergoing gender reassignment surgery, folx living with MS, and has certifications in Pre and Post-Natal Pilates. devika believes movement and somatic self inquiry is a radical practice of pleasure and should be accessible to all bodies. devika teaches live in person class at Everybody Los Angeles everybodylosangeles.com, the nation's first radically inclusive, gender neutral gym that advocates for fitness for all.

"Devika is a thoughtful, knowledgeable and conscientious teacher – something I really valued as she helped me with pilates through my second pregnancy. She has a calming presence that made me feel relaxed during challenging workouts. I highly recommend her."

  • "I started with Devika as a total newcomer to Pilates. Working with her has been incredible. I never thought I would capable of doing this kind of stuff. Devika continues to help me push myself and even work through some long standing imbalances in body I had just learned to live with. Her patience, knowledge, and attention to detail are evident in everything she does. She is a pleasure to work with and be around. I leave each session with her happier, healthier and standing up straighter."  –Brooke L

"Devika was a godsend to me at a time when I needed tremendous support and guidance. I studied Pilates with her in the final years of my career with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. I was having a lot of difficulty with reoccurring injuries, chronic pain and just being overworked and she was a grounding presence throughout. Our work provided me with fine tuned exercises that enlightened me about my body. As a naturally "strong" person it was eye opening to become stronger at a core level, yet I felt like I could approach the rigor of my work with a newfound softness in my joints and bones.  I would bring specific movement from the repertory that was giving me trouble and Devika would base our sessions on it to find breakthroughs and ease.  I am also thankful for Devika's spirit and encouragement. I often times felt panicked that I wouldn't be able to continue. Our sessions together became a place where I could refuel both physically and mentally. I am teaching more than I am dancing now, but even so I still pull from what Devika shared with me to support my body while being on my feet all day."  –Andrea W

"Devika is one of the best teachers I have ever had, in any capacity, and I am a college professor. She has helped me out of serious illness through careful, rigorous and individuated instruction. She's insightful and a superb guide." –Sarah S

"Devika's right on the pulse of what I’m capable of, and in a supportive but challenging way she guides me toward new strengths and possibilities." –Doug M
